Relations: A Duet in Black and White – A Performance Work

Exploration of cultural and political aspects of ‘centre’ and ‘periphery’ (metropolis to province) inspired the performance work Relations: A Duet in Black and White by Sally Gray and Laleen Jayamanne, at Artspace Sydney, in July 1983. The Duet crossed the geographical, racial, cultural and experiential divides between the two artists’ Black and White selves, with feminism and residence in Sydney being the connecting tissue.
