Since establishing her independent practice as an Arts and Cultural Consultant in 1994, Sally Gray has advocated for creative originality and cultural diversity. She has supported and brokered projects to bring Australian history, heritage and ideas to broad public notice and worked on deepening understanding of the role of art, culture and ideas in urban and regional life.
- 2020 Arts and Culture Award from Local Government NSW for ‘Catalyst for Culture’, Coffs Harbour City Council’s ‘Library, Museum, Gallery Strategy Planning Project’, researched and written by Annie Talve of Project Sisu, with strategic thinking and facilitation from Dr Sally Gray
- 2017-2019 Co-designer and presenter, ‘Future Arts Leaders Program’, Australia Council for the Arts, (with Annie Talve, Project Sisu)
- 2011-2012 Arts consultant and co-author Research Study of Cultural Benefits created by Victoria’s Public Library network (with Annie Talve, Project Sisu). Published as A. Talve and S. - 2001-2003 Cultural Industries Broker, City of Wollongong – working on the role of creative industries in economic and urban development of the city (with City of Wollongong and NSW Department of State Development)
- 1999-2000 Cultural Consultant, cultural mapping and planning for public art works for the Illawarra Escarpment (with Illawarra Region of Councils)
- 1997 Cultural Consultant, collaborative regional strategy for 30 regional museums and galleries of the greater Illawarra area (with Illawarra Region of Councils)
- 1996-97 Creative Industries Mentor (with NSW Department of State Development)
- 1993-95 Member, Visions of Australia Committee, making decisions on project funding for touring exhibitions of Australian cultural material
- 1996 Consultant (with Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians) NSW cultural program for the first National Reconciliation Week (with National Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation)
- 1995 Consultant, cultural communication strategy for Warringah region of Sydney (with Warringah Council, Sydney)
- 1994 Honorary consultant, Museum Tekstil, Jakarta, Indonesia, strategic planning report on collection management, interpretation and display, education programs and marketing
