Sally Gray’s ‘My Garden As a Family Archive’ gives us a moving ephemeral montage of memory and attachment where the familial and familiar are implicated in the complex of the garden.
Michelle Moo (2003) “Art and the Natural Born Archivist” Reel Time 55 June July 03 pp 34-35
Invited to participate in the ‘The House of Exquisite Memory’, by curator Susan Charlton, Sally Gray conceived an installation articulating her relationship to the plants in her Surry Hills backyard garden and, in turn, her relationships with the people who gave them to her as cuttings, bulbs, seedlings or seeds.
