Thinking through pink

Thinking Through Pink at Wollongong Art Gallery, between December 2 2022 and March 5 2023, speculated on the cultural politics of colour. The show invited responses to some of the ideological layers of taste and interpretation surrounding the colour pink, including those characterising it is as feminine, queer, decorative, frivolous, feminist, frilly and ‘rococo’. Covering contemporary art and design; Australian modernist art; decorative arts from the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries; feminist and queer agitprop posters and art works, the show aimed to delight, uplift and provoke.
